Future Kings of the jungle...Leadwood evening game drive

And another glorious African day begins...

Sometimes the sunrises and sunsets almost eclipse the game viewing...

The same sunrise taken about 20 minutes apart...enough to see two totally effects...
But I digress...
First our second evening game drive from Leadwood...

It started off rather quietly with this sighting of a White backed Vulture that we found near the leopard kill we had seen the day before...

There was some of the Impala ram left, but the carcass had been claimed by a young male leopard who was NOT happy to see us!

While taking this picture, my eye was caught by a movement a little way up the river...

Not the rapid water flow over this weir...

But this Hippo that was eyeing us...

We disturbed this White Rhino as he was about to poop at this midden...he was not a happy chap and moved off behind some bushes so that we would have difficulty taking his picture...

We left him to ruminate over the fact that he had been interrupted...

However the highlight of the drive was when we found this group of cubs...this particular youngster was the "star" of the group...

The following images speak for themselves...

Cuteness personified...

One of the moms did take a momentary interest in us,

but decided to leave and see if any food was available...

The youngsters continued to pose for the cameras on board our vehicle...

This one looked like it had tried, unsuccessfully to apply eye shadow...

Eventually we decided to move off to try and find the mothers...

This is what we found instead...a Spotted Hyena...

And not just one,two!

One of whom decided to pose rather nicely for us...

With the sun slowly starting to set, we left this sighting and went of to have our evening drinks...

We enjoyed drinks and snacks overlooking this part of the river...

As we had found the cubs, it sighting was celebrated as we drove back towards camp...

Hanging in a tree were glasses and an ice-bucket with Champaign!

What a great way to end of a wonderful day...
However, my day was still tinged with sadness at the loss of my beloved bush hat...
