Game on...images from Sabi Sands

Some of my favorite images from the drives that we did from Leadwood Lodge and River Lodge...

The hyena might not be everyone's favourite, but I do enjoy watching them...

You have to love a face like this!

We did not have a great deal of luck with our lion spotting, but we did manage to find this group of cubs...

I have to "paws" before moving on...

One of the Moms did cast a beady eye at us, but decided to go hunting for four-footed game instead...lucky for us!

Time to move on...for both her and us...

Cuteness personified...

Time for some big grey mammals...

A White Rhino...that was marking his territory...a BIG fellow...

A Hippo motoring towards us...luckily he decided to stop before reaching the bank of Hippo Dam...

And, of course, the biggest of them all...the African Elephant...and we were lucky enough to see several breeding herds...

Up close and very personal...but we had faith in our ranger and tracker and never felt in any danger

Talking of danger, being with this guy reminded me of an old Roger Miller song..."You can't roller-skate in a Buffalo Herd"...

Except this is a herd of Wildebeeste...

Curious waterbuck...

Bushbuck at Kirkmans camp...

Nyala at River Lodge...

Even a Blue tailed skink made an appearance...

We did manage to find three Lions but they did not want to play along...they did not even bother to open their eyes when vehicles arrived or left...
BUT THE ONE ANIMAL EVERYONE WANTS TO SEE IS..

LEOPARD!

We were extremely lucky in that we saw seven individual Leopards...

On our very first game drive we found this young female on a kill...

This is the dominant male in the area...

This female was cleaning herself after killing an Impala...

She went to fetch her son, who, once he got used to our vehicle, decided that food was more important that waiting for us to leave...

We found him again on our last morning at River Lodge...

We found this large male at the end of drive...

Time to go...for both the Leopard an me...I hear a game vehicle starting up and I need to be on board...
All the animals were viewed during our stay at various &Beyond lodges in the Sabi Sands Reserve

To be continued...
