Acoustic Arts 5,the first semi final

A post full moon shone down on Fourways,Johannesburg as the first semi-final of Acoustic Arts 5 2012 took place at Tanz Cafe.

The order for the performers was chosen in a random and transparent manner and as always the opening act is the toughest...The "honour" fell on Donna Riley.

She set the tone for the evening.Personally I would like to have seen more female performers taking part.

Second up was Adam van Veen who set the stage alight with his performance.

He has great guitar skills and the audience certainly appreciated that...

Nathan Smith was up next.

All the performers had brought "fan clubs" with for support and Nathan was no exception.

Naas Veld first performed in Round 4, which I had missed...

I was blown away by his performance, but I had no vote...

Gareth Lawson rocked the venue with his performance...

He certainly put his heart and soul into it.

Nakhane Toure is making waves...

He has been booked to play at a festival later this year and I wish him the best of luck.

Saving the best for last?

Emile Swiegers closed off the evening...

Judge Bruce Dennill together with...

Judge Natalie Chapman, then had the unenviable task of picking the three winners.

They usually appear on the stage independently of each other, however they made the big announcement in tandem.

The first semi finalists: Emile, Nakhane and Naas

And what are they competing for?

*DRUM ROLL*

The big prize! A USA Breedlove guitar and...
