Sunrise over Sandton...

I was recently shooting some sunset shots when my neighbour remarked that if I was prepared to get up early I could get some sunrise shots from the park close by

One last "Harry Potter" sunset and I packed away my gear for the night.

After several overcast mornings with no possibility of sunrise shots, this day dawned relatively clearly.

I arrived at Delta Park at 06h30 and waited...

I was uncertain as to what time sunrise was expected, so I took a variety of skyline images to keep my fingers from freezing.

This crane will feature again later in this posting.

Slowly the sky started to change colour...

Tinged with pink and red, I knew that sunrise could not be far off...

Getting closer

06h57 and the sun appears...

A different perspective...

Once it had started its assent, there was no stopping it...

The following images are dedicated to those who were unable to enjoy the sunrise this morning.

Even birds were up and about early...

This is why I love Johannesburg...

The crane from earlier, lit by the sun...

Time for me to pack up the camera and head home to try and get warm.
