Madikwe Game Reserve

Situated on the Botswana border in the North West,
this reserve is one of my favourites...
Of the 22 commercial lodges, I have been privileged to visit 11,
some more than once!

This is Tau Game Lodge, the largest and oldest lodge

A six-month old Wild Dog pup.
Part of  litter of 12 that belongs to the largest pack.

Jamala Madikwe Royal Safari Lodge.
THE most stunning lodge I have ever stayed at

Up close and personal with a Grey Ghost...

The accommodation at Jaci's Tree Lodge

A White Rhino.

My bathroom at Jaci's Safari Lodge

A young Kudu bull.

Makanyane, my first visit was in 2002.
Now,10 years on and it is still magnificent.

Scarface...

Madikwe Hills Private Game Lodge, one of my favourites

A herd of Elephants making their way to a waterhole

The deck at Buffalo Ridge Safari Lodge.
One of two community run lodges

A Spotted Hyena

The lounge area at Tuningi Safari Lodge.

Breakfast...

Thakadu River Camp.
This is the other community run lodge

A Lilac-breasted Roller,
the national bird of Botswana and a resident in the Reserve

For a genuine bush experience, Mosetlha Bush Camp is the real deal.
Hot water from a Donkey boiler and VIP "long-drop" toilets, but I love it
I have visited this camp on several occasions.

A male Southern Masked Weaver looking for a mate.

I hope to visit Etali again this year.
I last visited 10 years ago, and unfortunately I cannot find any images from that trip.

Time to stop monkeying around and head back to the bush

Thanks to Mosetlha Bush Camp and Federal Air,
my first bush visit of 2013 is coming up soon!

Most of these camps have won "TRAVEL & THINGS" Blog Awards.
