In all my years as a travel writer,
this is only the second time that I have flown Business Class.
Many thanks to Emirates for making it happen.

My trip started at this lounge at ORT International Airport, Johannesburg.
Of the four lounges I visited during my outward/inbound journeys,
this one had the best views AND the best food.
Well done to the "locals".

As it is on a corner of the terminal it gets natural light from two sides
and great views as well

It also rates as my Number 1 for food.
Both the choice and the quality.

Dessert on offer at ORT

Dubai...
This lounge was undergoing a revamp.
Luckily my layover time was so short
that I literally only had time for a muffin and a cup of coffee.

Dubai Airport...or a part thereof.

Barcelona...

Orange juice and a snack.

The Boeing 777...I flew in this for 3 of the four flights

Food...

And my "accommodation"...

Being able to lie down,
and stretch out fully makes a HUGE difference to the way you feel.

A sleeping "selfie"...
And proper headphones as well

Airbus A380...
What a pleasure.

Upstairs accommodation...

And there was even a lounge...
with snacks and drinks!

On one of my flights,
the cabin attendant asked me if I would like a snack.
I hesitated before answering, she might have misunderstood my silence
so she asked me the question;
"Hot nuts"?...
I had an answer in mind, but chose NOT to vocalize it
for fear of being removed from the aircraft.
I have a sneaky suspicion that she too realized what she had said.
The crew compliment varies, but on all of the flights
they spoke in excess of 10 languages.
On my final leg home they were able to converse in 18 languages.

Even business class passengers take selfies.
The passenger on the left worked the entire flight.
She did not even turn her entertainment centre on.

I begin my return flights home...

Bye, bye Barcelona...
and Europe. I hope to visit again soon.

My travelling companions.
Justin, the Gnome, Kwand-hare
and the "travelling heart" from my daughter...

"Travel & Things" was an entrant in this competition.
