These were the three places that my wife and I visited
on a recent long weekend.
We started off at the Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre, De Wildt.
Near Hartebeespoort Dam, it is an hour from Johannesburg
and about 40 minutes from Pretoria
"More humans...I am soooooo bored trying to impress"!
Not only does the centre have predators,
it is also home to several Blue Cranes...our national bird
There is an "adopt-an-animal" option available.
But if you actually want to take one home...
this is the only way you can do that.
Up close an personal with a Cape Vulture.
The centre is home to one of my favourite mammals,
The Wild Dog.
De Wildt have a very successful breeding program for this species in place.
"Goodbye...I hope that you enjoyed your time with us".
Less that 6km down the R513 is the De Widlt Cheetah Lodge.
It has been around for almost 40 years and is still going strong
Our accommodation for the evening.
Simple and comfortable...
but I think it is time to bring in new mattresses.
One was very soft...but our opinion is subjective.
One of the many "pieces" that can be found in the public areas.
I love the fact that the candle holder is missing an "arm".
My wife getting some attention from the resident Border Collie puppy.
This chapel on the property was built by Margaret Roberts.
It is a great venue for intimate weddings,
or just to find some solace at the end of a busy day.
Early morning light over the grasses in the garden.
We left after breakfast and literally headed down the road to our next property
The Margaret Roberts Herbal Centre.
We arrived in time to sit in on one of her talks.
One of the fairies in the Fairy Collection.
Situated in the Fairy Shop, it is well worth a visit.
And the R5.00 entrance fee goes to Hospice.
One of the many quiet areas that can be found on the property.
A relaxing environment to be in and to enjoy.
At least some(thing) was working.
Not quite wind-chimes,
but you can play them
The large tea room filled up quickly at tea and lunch time
Cheese Cake for breakfast?
A moment of reflection perhaps?
Here are the contact details for the places that we visited.
