Qatar airlines celebrates 10 years in South Africa.

I was not aware of this fact...

And to rectify that I attended a media briefing recently,
which was hosted by the airline.

I had never tasted Arabic coffee before.
It was served together with dates...big YUM.
It tasted more like a perfumed tea than a coffee.

In case you were uncertain HOW to drink it,
Linea and Jena were on hand to help.

Breakfast of champions...Qatar style...

Set up for the press conference.

While waiting for it to start,
I wandered around outside the venue where it was taking place.
The Four Seasons Hotel, in Westcliff Johannesburg

The view out over Johannesburg is breathtaking.

The property is large, and this is one way of getting around.

Part of the speech given by Mr. Marwan Koleilat,
Chief Commercial officer of Qatar Airways.

Some of what Qatar Airways offers...

THIS is a plus, as this is the "class" where most of us fly

Hopefully this will cut down the layover times

HAS TO BE SHOPPING!
This is not a drawcard for me, but it must be for other travelers.

Being able to relax in an on site hotel is a big plus.
Especially if you have a long layover and you can't leave the airport.

I wonder when this aircraft will start flying into South Africa

The clock on the wall in the hotel reception caught my eye...

Some of the media enjoying a pre-lunch drink and the view.

My starter...
Grass fed beef carpaccio, crunchy Asian vegetables
with a  sesame cream.

And my main course...
Rib eye steak, rosemary jus and thick cut fries.
I wonder why there were no vegetables on offer?

A final look at the Johannesburg skyline,
before heading home.
