Andy's Acoustic Forum, August 2015

Time once again for Andy's Acoustic Forum
The August edition.

Kicking off the evening,
Wendyhouse...

Wendy Niehaus bringing a touch of country to the evening

Together with Ashley Hendricks
they really set the bar for the acts to follow,
even though their set was shorter than expected.

Michael Plaxton-Harrison,
enthralled the appreciative audience with some virtuoso guitar work.

He was then joined by Ivan Oberholster on electric bass.
An instrument not regularly seen at these acoustic evenings

And, just to complete the line-up,
Dave Delaney (from Beukes and Delaney) joined on fiddle

All the way from Canada.
Ex Yeoville boytjie, Brian Litvin

Although Brian was meant to play a solo set,
he decided to call for reinforcements

First, bass player Ivan (remember Ivan?)
joined in...

And he was followed by Dave Delaney on penny-whistle,
and also fiddle.

And, for me, the jewel in the crown of the evening.
A talent that I have not seen before.
From KZN, Rowan Stuart...
A talent to watch and nurture!

His lyrics and guitar work
was not what I was expecting.
Not a note out of place.
A true professional in every sense.

And not only did he get the attention of the audience...

He also got to do an encore...
And had there been time, I am certain that the crowd
would have been keen to hear another song or two.

This is one of the songs that he performed.

And last, but by NO means least.
Legendary folk singer, Paul Clingman

Looking like Paul Simon or Leonard Cohen,
depending on you music preference.
But he has a style all his own.
A first at Andy's Acoustic Forum...
a PROPER acoustic guitar!

Paul has not performed at this venue before,
neither has he recorded for a while.
Perhaps it is time for him to get back into the studio?

And finally, a surprise guest from Swaziland,
Bholoja.
When I left he was doing Bob Dylan covers
and the audience was really enjoying his talent.

Andy, you have to make certain that there
is always a fiddle in the band!
The next evening will be on Wednesday, September 23
At Marks Park as usual.
Don't miss it as I have it on good authority that it is a special lineup
