Food, glorious food. We dine in style at Azure at The 12 Apostles Hotel and Spa

High Tea in the Leopard Bar.
There are two events coming up in October,
both in aid of cancer awareness.
The first is "Cuppa for Cancer".
To find out more, contact the hotel:

Three tiers of pure indulgence...
Both sweet and savoury.

If I was to single one out,
it would have to be this cupcake.

A Rooibos Panna Cotta with chocolate balls.
This one was for my wife.

And, as I don't eat chocolate,
the vanilla version with strawberries for me

A walk was in order to get feel less guilty about the food indulgence
while staying at 12A.

There are two very private treatment rooms near the helipad.

A Protea bush right in the grounds of the hotel.
Only in the Western Cape.

A short respite and then dinner at Azure.
The table decoration is completely different from the breakfast service.

Breads and wine...
The bread was very different and I especially enjoyed the corn bread.

A Camembert and fig pre-starter.

My wife's starter...
A HUGE salad.

I chose the Bea Tollman classic chicken soup.

Some "between-courses" magic with dry ice.
Palate cleanser with a difference.

Our of the day.
In this case we chose Cob, which neither of us have had before.
It turned out to be a great choice.

Our waiter, Eden, who talked us into having dessert

And what a dessert it turned out to be.
A Creme Brulee, served in a manner that I have not seen before.
The simple chocolate decoration set the dish off perfectly

Milkshakes and popcorn for our movie date this evening...

We return to our room to find THIS!

And just when you think that there is NOTHING more to eat,
I turned to find THIS on our bed...
I hear gym SHOUTING my name.
Going to be a hurtin' when I get back home...

This is the man that is responsible for the superb food that we enjoyed.
And the reason that I will have to return to the gym,
sooner rather than later.
Christo Pretoruis, the Executive Chef of 12A
He shares his food philosophy:

The "team" that I dealt with at Cape Town International Airport.
Good service and friendly smiles...
Europcar, the official car rental supplier
to "Travel & Things"

A motto I like to live by.
My bank manager is not always happy about this though...
