My Top 10 eateries for 2015

Hyatt Regency Hotel, Rosebank
Once again my wife and I find ourselves back

at this wonderful restaurant at the Hyatt Regency in Rosebank, Johannesburg

Rim & Rubber, Greenside.
Amid much "publicity" and having their name incorrectly spelled
more than once, the rather quirky "Rim & Rubber" opened its doors
in Greenside a couple of weeks ago.
I was unable to attend the official launch,
so my wife and I stopped by recently to say "Hi" to co-owners Leanne and Craig.
Is it a bike shop with a restaurant, or vice versa...
We discovered that they are in the process of trying to balance both.
The writing on the wall says it all about the what the owners hope the venue will achieve

As usual Bellgables took spectacular.
Errol and his staff keep altering the look,
so that even regular diners are "surprised"
The table decorations might look "over-the-top",
but they add yet another layer to the way meals are presented here.

The Fat Zebra, Linden.
I have to admit that I have not been back to this restaurant,
since my first visit in May this year.
No longer a "new player",
they have become a fixture.
Not only with the locals, but with visitors from other suburbs as well.
Just off the corner of 3rd Ave and 7th Street,
which seems to be the new "restaurant strip"
It was time for a return visit...
And my wife and I were dazzled
(For those who are unaware,
the collective noun for Zebra is a "dazzle")

Unfortunately Elemental Cafe, Linden
will be closed over the holidays.
But well worth a visit in 2016.
Banana Booster...
Banana, avo,almonds, dates and cinnamon.
Can there be a better combination?

The "new-kid-on-the-block"...
But are they in Linden?
Technically they are on the Blairgowrie side of 1st Ave.
HOWEVER, after tasting their food,
I declare them to be an HONORARY Linden establishment!
Currently this is their first foray outside of Cape Town,
where they have a store in Durbanville.

Gravity in Linden...
Rather than having a "themed" interior,
the restaurant is an eclectic mixture of furnishings and styles.

That being said, the mix does work really well.

Oregano, Linden
Looking for something sweet?
Forget "that" donut shop in Rosebank,
support the locals!
All sorts of wonderful cakes and tarts...
I did notice my one of my favourites,
a lemon meringue pie, on the table

For those who will be in Cape Town for their holidays,
you have to try the Azure Restaurant at the 12 Apostle's Hotel!
This was our dessert
And what a dessert it turned out to be.
A Creme Brulee, served in a manner that I have not seen before.
The simple chocolate decoration set the dish off perfectly

My meal of the year...
However, you will have to travel all the way to Abu Dhabi
to enjoy the service, the view and the food.
Pearls & Caviar by sergl arola
can be found at the Shangri-La Hotel.
