Daytime at the Vineyard Hotel & Spa, Newlands, Cape Town

On a recent trip to Cape Town, my wife and I
had the pleasure of staying at this fine hotel.
I have to admit, on first sight, the room decor did seem "quirky"
but we came to enjoy the feel of the room

Our accommodation was well laid out and,
unlike many hotels, had both a shower and a bath!

This was the light fitting above our bed

And my reading lamp...
Someone must have had a lot of fun sourcing these items.

The view from our room.
We faced the courtyard, but you can book a room that faces
either the cricket oval or the mountain.
Had we known about the room choices,
we would have opted for mountain facing accommodation

This little Squirrel was enjoying a meal outside the window.

The Square restaurant and Sushi Bar.
It was here that we ate breakfast during our stay

Even the decor in the public areas is "eclectic"
but it all works as a cohesive whole.

My breakfast of champions...
The Vineyard offers one of the finest
and most diverse buffets I have eaten

The view from upstairs in the dining room.
You cannot beat this view...

As part of its sustainability program(which is VERY comprehensive)
the hotel has a small in house roastery.
At the Long Cafe you can enjoy some of their product as well
as a range of cakes and pastries.

The Quiet Room...
No cell phones or laptops allowed( or should that be aloud?)

The staircase in the original part of the hotel.
The hotel has many nooks and crannies for guests to discover
and to soak themselves in the history of the building

A great place to meet and eat.
Here you can enjoy your meal either indoors
or on the patio outside.

The focal point in the lawn at the rear of the hotel.

A collage of some of the public spaces on the property.

The gardens at the Vineyard are like a mini Kirstenbosch.
They even grow their own grapes as well as organic vegetables.

When I mentioned to friends that we were at this hotel,
the feedback was immediate and VERY positive.
It seems that guests to this hotel return more often than not.

This is Faiz, who did all the paperwork at Cape Town airport.
In my dealings with this company to date
I have only met with friendly and efficient staff
who have a passion for their customers.
Based on my experiences over the past few months
and in three different cities, I highly recommend them
