Myself and the camp manager, Shaun Coetzee enjoying a moment
just after my arrival at Tented Adventures recently.
It is all well and good to enjoy a great chat around the dinner table.
Especially when there are a diverse and interesting group present.
However, when you have to be up in the dark for a morning game drive,
early to bed is an option that I often choose.
It seems that the post dinner marshmallow roasting was abandoned...
Although Tented Adventures was full, the main caravan park across the road
was barren of vehicles.
Tented Adventures shares this ablution block with the rest of the campers.
Situated 170m from their site, it offered clean toilets and showers as well as two bathrooms.
One of my first stops when I do game drives on my own.
This is the Pilanesberg Information Centre.
There is a restaurant, called Zebra Crossing, a gift shop
as well as a shop that sells a variety of snacks.
There is also a small waterhole and salt lick that attracts a variety of species.
Originally known as the Grey Lourie,
this bird now has the unfortunate honour of being re-named
the Grey Go-Away Bird!
Post the salt lick a cooling drink of water was very necessary for this giraffe.
You have to admit that Wildebeeste are cute when they are youngsters.
They grow up to look like an animal that has been designed by a committee.
Ankle deep in mud.
This Zebra was enjoying a drink and a spa treatment at the same time.
Not too far away from the centre is Ratlhogo Dam.
I spent several hours sitting quietly here waiting for "something" to appear in front of my lens.
Impala rams mock fighting as they come down to have a cool early morning drink
My favourite part of Pilanesberg...Mankwe Dam.
This was early in the morning.
Aside from the plethora of birdlife that abounds at the dam,
it was, on this occasion, a playground for this Hippo and her offspring.
A very rare sighting...a Black Rhino coming down for a drink.
Game drives over for the day, it is time to head back to camp for dinner.
Bush TV...there is something quite hypnotic about watching a fire.
As the weather was perfect, dinner was served outside.
Unfortunately, this did not last for long as the rain arrived along with our main course.
An impressive moon in a clear post rain sky.
I will get up early tomorrow and do it all over again
Why not take a walk on the wild-side and come and enjoy our food and hospitality
here at Tented Adventures, Pilanesberg.
